Hello from HIMSS10-Atlanta

March 1, 2010

Greetings fellow PAeHI members, and welcome to PAeHI’s inaugural blog post. We hope to leverage this commmunciations tool to extend to our member the best HIT educational opportuniteies and perspectives they might not otherwise experience.

This week, we’re at HIMSS10 in Atlanta with all 30,000 of our closest Health IT friends and colleagues from across the country and around the world. It’s a record attendance, and no snow has been sighted. HIMSS is putting particular focus on meaningful use, of course. Many ONC people are leading and participating in sessions. National Coordinator for Health IT Dr. David Blumenthal will be speaking as Wednesday’s keynoter on the proposed meaningful use rules and the how Health IT will better serve the patient population.

Yesterday the pre-conference HIE Symposium was packed with lots of physicians, Health IT, HIE, and government people, sharing stories about a range of HIEs around the country. And last night’s HIMSS reception kicked off the meeting which will last through Thursday.

Stay tuned for more postings tomorrow.

This blog was brought to you by Mark Stevens and Mark Jacobs of PAeHI sitting in the lobby of Building C to the Georgia World Congress Center. We welcome dialog and questions you might have about HIMSS and Health IT.

We wanted to give PAeHI members a taste of HIMSS, as we begin to get this blog moving. Mike Squires, of BluePrint Healthcare IT, and who also publishes his independent www.e-HealthcareMarketing.com blog gave us an assist on getting this started.
